This setting starts out expressing the quiet loneliness of having a baby in a strange place, and moves to a gentle, rocking accompaniment as the new family begins to settle in.
Notes on preparation and performance:
In the first verse, be sure to keep the rhythm very steady in the accompanying voices. It has a slow ragtime feel.
