SATB / organ, 4 handbells, windchimes or Zimbelstern
Text by Nancy Welliver, based on "Corde natus ex Parentis"
by Aurelius Clemens Prudentius, 4th century CE
With the familiar tune we associate with "Of The Father's Love Begotten," DIVINUM MYSTERIUM, these words more accurately reflect the old Latin chant "Corde natus ex Parentis." "You, the well-spring of all music, You, the silence at its end, were and are and ever shall be." The setting is easily learned and performed. The tenors sing with the basses almost all the time, and most of the part-singing is simply the melody sung canonically. The bell parts are very simple, and are intended to be played by 2 players.

PayPalShe Was Dancing
Audio demo (generated by Sibelius)
SSA / piano
Text by Reginald Unterseher
This piece comes from a dream image. We see a dancing woman, alone at first, spinning with her arms spread wide. Her children join in under the starry sky. She begins to rise, and our eyes are drawn up, following her. Her twirling hair becomes the spiral galaxies, and the dance becomes the movement of the stars, all woven together. The piece is about a woman, it is about women, it is about Woman, it is about joy.

Sicut cervus
SATB / organ
Text: Psalm 42, in Latin
The desire for connection to whatever we perceive as Divine connects every human culture. This ancient text, from Psalm 42, expresses that idea simply and powerfully by comparing that desire to the thirst of a beautiful creature pursued by a predator. In this setting, listen for the flowing water figures in the organ. Each line of text is repeated three times, first in its most simple form, then as a duet, then with all parts. The final chant, "desiderat ad te, Deus" repeats as a mantra.
